From the Market

I buy most of the food I can’t grow on my city lot from local farms. Specifically, I buy from Seedling Orchard, Klug Farm and Spence Farm.

Seedling is owned by Peter Klien, an awesome marketing guy turned farmer. I buy in bulk from him so he is generous enough to deliver the big boxes of fruit to my doorstep. I don’t have a car and ride a scooter around town so this is particularly awesome for me.

Klug Farm grows my favorite grapes on the planet — Jupiter. So, buy from him once a year, when the grapes are in season, and I tend to get that stuff delivered to a restaurant since I don’t buy enough to be so boldly rude to ask for a special delivery.

Spence Farm is awesome, owned by Marty and Kris Travis. I have a make your own CSA with them, again buying in bulk to make it worthwhile, and they deliver my CSA stuff to The Bristol, where the nicest chef on the planet is patient enough for me to pick up my yummy produce.  Actually, along with produce, Spence has the best maple syrup on the planet (really) and grows wheat and corn for, if you can’t guess, flour and cornmeal.
